Swim Center at Westminster School, LLC (“SCW”) has been hired by Westminster School to help share the swim center with the surrounding community by offering memberships, swim lessons, water fitness classes, and other aquatic programs. SCW is a newly formed company, but its management team has a long history of success designing, constructing, and operating aquatics centers since 1987 including 14 years at the former Swim Center One in Granby, CT and 12 years at Cornerstone Aquatics Center in West Hartford, CT. As swimmers ourselves, we appreciate all that the water has to offer.

Our specialty is economically self-sufficient indoor aquatics centers. An aquatics center is a tremendous asset for any community but high capital and operating costs force most communities to shy away from building them. That may be changing. Swim Center One proved that a properly designed and managed indoor aquatics center can cover all of its costs for construction, debt service, operations, as well as state, local, and federal taxes. Its location in a small New England town (think high utility costs) makes its success all the more impressive.

If your community or organization is interested in exploring the possibility of bringing indoor swimming to town, you will need three things: 1.) A “critical mass” of individuals committed to making the facility a reality; 2.) A site for the facility with good access from your prime population centers; 3.) A source of funding for the capital costs (debt and/or donations and/or investors).
